The 2011-2023 Ford Super Duty 6.7L Powerstroke is one of the best work truck and diesel performance platforms on the market. The stock 6.7L Powerstroke air-to-water intercoolers are prone to leaking internally due to higher boost levels, failed factory assembly, or even just normal use. Knowing this, we set out to not only address this but to do it better than the competition. The SPE 6.7L Powerstroke Booklung Intercooler is by far the toughest and largest intercooler available.

WHAT MAKES THE SPE 6.7L POWERSTROKE BOOKLUNG INTERCOOLER SO DIFFERENT?
In the design process, SPE took into account a lot of factors with a specific focus on the intercooler core. The “normally available” cores on the market are designed around the use of ice water, which just doesn’t cut it. The secondary system cools with 110°F water; this was a key factor in developing an efficient and high-flowing core. Thus, the intercooler core (dubbed The Booklung) is specifically designed by SPE for the 6.7L Powerstroke. It has been designed around the actual operating temperatures of the secondary cooling system and not around the use of 30-45°F water that most intercooler cores are designed for.
In true SPE fashion, we didn't just stop there. Rather than using a cast or sheet metal design for the end tanks, the engineering team opted for thick billet end tanks allowing for a strong, more durable product. Furthermore, the team took the design one step further and rather than creating an intercooler the exact same size as the factory one, they took advantage of the space in the engine bay and designed the intercooler to utilize that space as efficiently & effectively as possible.
The SPE 6.7L Powerstroke Intercooler also flows better, with a 35% gain over the stock cooler. On the dyno, that extra flow allowed one of our test bed 6.7L Powerstrokes to make 130 lb-ft more torque, all while dropping EGTs up to 200°F and cutting the pressure drop across the core by over half from 5 down to 1.5PSI.
The SPE intercooler is designed to take extreme amounts of boost and tested to over 150PSI. This core can also be used with ice water in racing applications.
