$50,000 To Win: Truck Pulling’s Largest Ever Payout

It was a huge weekend for truck pulling, with many of the nation’s top-running Super Stock diesel trucks descending upon the NTPA-sanctioned 300 Raceway Pull held in Farley, Iowa. After first buying in ($5,000 a pop), drivers had to show up in the Hawkeye State to qualify before being allowed in the Saturday night show—where $50,000 was on the line for the winner. In the end, it was longtime Super Stock owner and driver of Smoknya HD, Erik Stacey, who spun out at the furthest distance. Erik and his triple-turbo Cummins-powered Chevrolet put better than 14 feet on the rest of a tightly bunched field in route to collecting the largest payday yet recorded in truck pulling.

The Next GT500: New Spy Photos

FordAuthority.com is one of the better sites for Ford fans. Needless to say we're on there all the time and the latest big news from the site, they spotted what looks to be the future generation of GT500's, in "trash bag" apparel to hide any big details, of course. From this and prior finds, they're speculating a big performance package will be available from the presence the Michelin Cup 2 R tires, carbon fiber wheels, extensive aero, and massive cross drilled rotors. They also mentioned that Ford will likely be going with its own branding as opposed to the Shelby usage in the past. It's an interesting piece for GT500 fans. Check it out at the link below.

One Goal: Breaking The 4x4 Diesel Record

Austin Doidge is a man on a mission—and that mission is to own the fastest four-wheel drive diesel truck in the world. He has his work cut out for him in chasing the current eighth-mile ET record of 4.41 set by DNR Customs’ Derek Rose, but Austin has been steadily progressing in the 4’s in recent years, and his most recent updates might just take him from 4.7x’s to 4.5x’s, or better. New axles, chassis and roll cage revisions, a Turbosmart 76mm StraightGate, and plans to bring more horsepower into the equation have all been introduced. Austin plans to pursue the record with his Exergy-fueled, D&J Enforcer series Cummins soon.

David Petrick’s No-Expense-Spared Pro Mod Build

U.C.C., K.O.S., and multiple dyno event winner David Petrick will be going very fast soon, as is often the case when you ask the pros at Firepunk Diesel to build you a Pro Mod-caliber truck capable of running deep 4’s. In case you were wondering, yes, David is also targeting Derek Rose’s 4.41-second eighth-mile ET record with the build—and being it will have the latest and greatest technology onboard it might just have the best chance at pulling it off. Rumor has it the cab will have a full floor, as will the bed, which the folks at Firepunk think could potentially provide aerodynamic benefits, as well as improved traction on the top-end of the track. Stay tuned.

Steven Giordano Joins The 2KHP Club

It’s been a long road for Steven Giordano and his Cummins-powered OBS Ford. From the days of racing a 12-second 7.3L Power Stroke to obliterating the eighth-mile and various dynos with his compound turbo’d common-rail. Recently, Steven made a trip back to his old stomping grounds of Massachusetts with the truck and, putting on a show at JT’s Diesel Performance, cleared 2,038 hp on the rollers. After laying down 1,736 hp, Steven sensed the crowd wanted to see a show. So, in came more nitrous (and two additional straps to hold the old Ford down). In the end, Steven’s DDP-fueled Cummins won its class, took home the money, and holds the promise of making even more power next time.

A Low 7-Second 1/8-Mile Performer For $15K?!

Get it while it’s hot: a low-7-second eighth-mile performer that could easily run 7.70s like clockwork. Late last week, ODSS racer Dante Delaney posted this ’03 Chevrolet Silverado for sale: an LB7 Duramax/Allison 1000 converted ¾-ton HD with 121,000 miles on the body and 172,000 miles on the 6.6L. Within the last 2,000 miles, the truck was treated to a VS Racing ball bearing 69mm turbo in the valley, 100-percent over injectors and a 12mm CP3 from S&S, a FASS 165-gph, and a billet shaft (and planetary) Allison. The LB7 is studded and equipped with a DHD water pump, has PPE exhaust manifolds and up-pipes, and runs bottom 7’s on fuel…
