Someone call Guinness. The 6.0L Power Stroke in Zachary Smith’s ’06 model year Super Duty made it to the million-mile mark. So, how did the most-hated diesel V-8 in the world go the distance, and what’s up with the digital odometer? As for the latter, the miles will continue to read all 9’s from here on out (and a scan tool will have to be employed to read the actual miles accumulated). Ready for the engine details? It’s bone-stock (not even head studs) with the EGR removed and a 5-inch exhaust system… The transmission was replaced at 330,000 miles but the factory short-block is believed to have been along for the ride the entire time thanks to strict maintenance. Wild.

Nine years ago, Sergeant Paul Tuzzolo was tragically murdered in the line of duty. A big car guy, Tuozzlo had previously restored several cars and was working on restoring this Fox Body at the time of his passing. Nearly a decade later, his dream has been fulfilled with help from the NYPD and many others. The Mustang received the full resto-mod treatment before being returned to his family. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch wrote on X: "Paul loved to restore old cars, and thanks to the generosity of so many people and organizations, we were able to restore the Ford Mustang he was working on at the time of his death. We often talk about finishing the work our fallen NYPD heroes started, and today we were able to do that for Paul. May his memory continue to be a blessing."

Despite being completely untested, Dustin Sterling and the Sterling Diesel Performance team showed up at the Battle of the Full Size race in Texas over the weekend and stole the show in the 5.30 Index category. Starting with a no-prep tune-up from Cleeter’s AWD Vs. RWD shootout, they pulled a few ponies out of the equation in an attempt to slow the 4.7-second capable Duramax down. Still too quick, Dustin resorted to working the brakes for the duration of the evening, ultimately getting the win (and the cash). Be it heads-up or sticking close to a dial-in, Dustin continues to prove his driving talents behind the wheel of the world’s quickest eighth-mile Duramax.

Without question, the “Seventy 2 Fast” racing category was a hit at this year’s UCC/ODR event in Indianapolis. Now its creator, Firepunk Diesel’s Lavon Miller, is fine-tuning things a bit—all while seeking input from the competitors themselves. The big question he posed last week was whether or not there should be a $1,000 entry fee and a huge purse (think $25,000 or more), or a $200 entry fee and a smaller purse? Other items on the table for 2026 include the possibility of changing the minimum weight requirement (6,000 pounds for 2025), enforcing more thorough tech inspections, whether or not to double the field to 32 trucks, and allowing 6.7L Fords to run air-to-water intercoolers.

Most diesel enthusiasts know the 10L1000 transmission GM has been using in its HD trucks since 2020 isn’t a “true” Allison, but a 10-speed automatic that the renowned transmission manufacturer simply put its stamp of approval on. Now, with General Motors’ license to use Allison Transmission trademarks coming to an end, Allison badging will no longer be present on HD trucks produced after December 31, 2025. And while dealers won’t have to go from truck to truck, pulling Allison badges off of trucks currently on their lots, they do have until June 30, 2026, to sell models fitted with the transmission maker’s trademark. To be sure, this marks the “official” end of an era—the Duramax/Allison era.

Been on the lookout for a truly iconic Mustang? Check this one out. The 445 mile GT500KR is set to hit the auction block at Mecum's Kansas City auction this December. One of only 60 GT500KR's produced in 2020 this is an extremely rare find, especially with so few miles. What's even more rare, this is one of only two offered in Kona blue with the Carbon Fiber Track Package. At 900 horsepower from the factory, MagneRide suspension, tons of aero upgrades and more, it's a Mustang fan's dream. We can't wait to see what it goes for.
