If you haven't seen Carwow on YouTube, as a car enthusiast, you need to check the channel out. Well, they just did the thing we all talk about but never actually coordinate: lined up every Mustang generation and sent them down the quarter-mile. The oldest car in the lineup (a signed ’66 Shelby GT350) was too precious (and had an issue), so it didn’t run—but the rest did. The results? As expexted the S650 Dark Horse took the win with a 12.7, closely followed by the S550 Bullitt (13.4) and S197 Bullitt (14.2).

This is now (unofficially) the quickest 1/8-mile stock bottom end Cummins in the world. The third-gen belongs to Trevor Spence, and his regular cab rocket cut a 1.35-second 60-foot on its way to the new micro-record for a stock short block Cummins: 5.89 at 116 mph. Trevor made the pass at a test session at Northeast Dragway while prepping for the Diesel Truck Wars race on March 28th. His third-gen tips the scales at 5,000 pounds and gets a helping hand from TRE Diesel/Melting Pistons Race Parts and Santjer Performance Development. Expect to find Trent and his Dodge in the staging lanes both at DTW and in Indy for the Seventy 2 Fast race, but with 1,000 extra pounds in place at the latter event.

It was another big weekend in Jamestown, Tennessee, with Fitzgerald Truck Fest 5.0 pulling in yet another huge turnout. Attendees were treated to the usual mix of nonstop burnout action, big numbers on the chassis dyno, a massive show ‘n shine, and a maze of vendors, but this time there were dirt drags—and they were a hit. Last but not least, FP 5.0 produced record pizza sales for the onsite pizza vendor. On the dyno, Austin Denny’s nitrous-huffing, compound turbo 6.0L Power Stroke stole the show and laid claim to highest horsepower. Next time, what has become one of the highest-attended, best-organized events in the industry will add a sled pull…

Courtland Bowles III is a big fan of GM’s 6.5L IDI diesel V-8. Since 2012 he’s had a dream of pushing one to 500 hp. Now, with the help of his brother’s talents (@chefesb), that dream is as close as it’s ever been to becoming a reality. Together, the duo has created a center mount turbo pedestal, up-pipes, oil feed and drain lines, and installed van exhaust manifolds (to get around the poor factory exhaust manifold design that came on GM trucks). With an S300 in the mix, Courtland believes the 6.5L’s poor flow and high drive pressure issues at elevated horsepower will be solved. We can’t wait to see this homegrown creation turn out modern day power.

Is this the first supercharged 7.3L Power Stroke? It was built by Diesels and Dirtbags, and made its debuted recently at the Summit 7.3 event in Cumming, Georgia. The one-of-a-kind project, which is actually a Peterbilt-based, rat-rod wrecker, took home the Wild Card trophy at Summit 7.3’s public truck show. As for the rest of the 4-day, Power Hungry Performance-hosted event, Summit 7.3 would see guest speaking appearances from industry leaders like PPEI’s Kory Willis, Powertrain Training’s Tony Salas, and KC Turbos’ Charlie and Kacee Fish. On Day 1, a calibration training was held for new and current 7.3L tuners.

The United States Justice Department and Transportation Department is suing California over zero emissions vehicle (ZEV) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission rules. The lawsuit claims that the Golden State—through CARB’s implementation of the Advanced Clean Cars II regulation—is imposing an illegal electric vehicle (EV) mandate on its citizens through state-specific mileage requirements for auto makers when federal law prohibits individual states from adopting fuel economy-related regulations. The U.S. Justice Department and Transportation Department will seek a ruling that declares all ZEV mandates in California as unlawful, which would work toward allowing auto makers to design and produce cars to meet one federal fuel economy regulation.
